Carpenters’ Company of the City and

County of Philadelphia:

The Oldest trade guild in the United States.  Modeled after the Carpenters’ Company in London, England, The Carpenters’ Company of the City and County of Philadelphia has been in existence for over 226 years being founded in 1724.

The mission of the Carpenters’ Company is simple yet profound:

A.)  Preserve and maintain historic Carpenters’ Hall.

B.)  Interpret for the public the significant events that took       

       place in and around the hall and history of the building

       construction.

C.)  Preserve the history and the traditions of the Company.

D.)  Provide a forum for professional association and

       fellowship for builders, architects and engineers.

E.)  Provide encouragement, education and support for men 

       and women entering the construction industry.

F.)  Develop and maintain professional relations with other 

       organizations having similar interests.

G.)  Encourage and support research and publications of

       history relating to the Company and its members and to

       the development of building construction and architecture.
